eCommerce, Electronic Commerce
eCommerce is the name which refers to the buying and selling of products or services electronically. Some may refer to this as online shopping or buying products and services through a website or online shop.
A couple of quotes taken from the IMRG website (IMRG is a membership community for the e-retail industry, whose vision is to maximise the commercial potential of online shopping)
New figures from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index show that UK shoppers spent £5.46 billion online in December – an equivalent of £88.93 for every person in the UK – 17% up on December 2008. Sales rose by 3.8% compared to November 2009, demonstrating typical growth for the month of December.
2010 looks set to produce another year of strong results for e-retail, with demand expected to remain high as consumers habitually look online for best buys, and a pipeline of significant improvements emerge, including wider product range availability, even better websites and a greater choice of convenient and more reliable delivery options.
I think we can all see that online shopping is worth being a part of and most importantly I bet at least one of your competitors already has an online shop or some form of web presence. Maybe you already have a website but are not selling through it yet?
Here are a few examples of eCommerce websites that we have developed.
The X Cam – Fully integrated and secure online shopping for the sale of Motorsport Cameras and Action Camera systems.
